Diagnosing ADHD in Children

“Empowering Children with Early ADHD Diagnosis for a Brighter Future.”

Understanding ADHD in Children: The Importance of Early Diagnosis

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder that can significantly impact a child’s ability to function in various aspects of life. Early identification and diagnosis are crucial for managing the symptoms and providing the necessary support for the child's development.

With timely diagnosis intervention, children with ADHD can develop strategies to cope with their symptoms, improve their functioning, and achieve their full potential. Recognising the signs early on allows parents, educators, and healthcare providers to collaborate in creating a supportive environment that fosters growth, learning, and well-being.

Neuropsychological Assessment

Neuropsychological assessment comprehensively evaluates cognitive functions, such as memory, attention, language, and executive functioning. It provides valuable insights into how the brain functions and helps identify strengths and weaknesses in various cognitive domains. By conducting specialized tests and assessments, neuropsychologists can diagnose neurological conditions, such as ADHD, and develop tailored treatment plans to address cognitive difficulties and improve overall functioning.

Adults With ADHD Have:

1. Attention and Focus Challenges
2. Impulsivity and Decision-Making
3. Hyperactivity and Restlessness
4. Organization and Time Management
5. Relationship and Social Interaction Difficulties
6. Emotional Regulation and Mood Instability
7. Work and Academic Performance Challenges

ADHD TESTING AND IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS

Following the initial consultation, the next step involves an ADHD assessment and treatment that includes completion of various online questionnaires. The specific number and type of assessments will be tailored to address your individual concerns and needs, guided by the insights gained from the initial consultation.

Your psychologist will then take an in-depth analysis and spend many hours reviewing your assessments and sessions. They’ll formulate a written report, offer recommendations, and organise a feedback session with you.

FEEDBACK SESSION

Feedback session is typically arranged approximately four weeks following the completion of your assessments, depending on availability. This session will last up to 50-60 minutes, during which your psychologist will provide you with both a written report and a verbal explanation of the assessment findings, and provide effective coping strategies to manage your symptoms.
